The Course

At Know Your Worth, we believe that taking care of our self-esteem is an essential element of personal development and wellbeing. We understand that teenage girls face a myriad of challenges that can impact their self-esteem, from peer pressure and academic stress to social media influences and societal expectations.

Our 8 week course is designed to create a safe and nurturing environment where teen girls can grow their self-esteem, recognise their strengths, build resilience and develop a healthy self-image - empowering them to make good decisions.

There are two ways our course can reach your teenage girls

what, when, who and why?

What?

The Know Your Worth Course is made up of 8 sessions lasting 1.5 hours each with course content all linking into self-esteem. We cover an introduction to the course, emotions (week 2 and 3), social media, relationships, resilience and a celebration session (week 8).

Who?

For who? The Course was created to be delivered to teenage girls (11-18) and to be run in a small group setting of up to 8 girls at a time.

By who? Our Course Facilitators (staff) who have a wealth of experience in youth based settings. Or it can be run by you if you train with us to become an Esteem Builder (head over to our training programme page here to find out more).

When?

All that is needed is an 8 week block (or 9 if half-term falls within that) for us to come and run an 1.5 hour session - ideally at the same time - each week for 8 weeks to cover all of the topics.

In schools, courses usually take place during timetable hours, however we are happy to adapt to your needs and can tweak our timings to ensure your school day runs smoothly.

Why?

Know Your Worth is a charity dedicated to helping teenage girls grow their self-esteem, empowering them to make good decisions and the key way we believe we can do that is through our self-esteem course. Over the last 3 years, 100+ girls have gone through our course, with 83% reporting higher self-esteem upon completion of the course.

The Goody Bags are the real showstopper…

The Goody Bags add such value to our course and are often highlighted by participants as being one of their favourite parts of each session. The bags act as a gift; a chance for the participants to receive something which we hope in turn further encourages high self-esteem. In addition, they help the girls take home what they have been learning on the course each week, and try out some new ideas.

We highly recommend making these a part of your course too!

  • Love & Care: The bags are an additional way to express to the girls they are loved and care for. We've seen the simple offering of a weekly gift make all the difference in the world.

Self-Esteem Development: Enhancing the girls' self-esteem is the primary objective of the course. The goody bags reinforce their learning and support their journey towards improved self-esteem.

A Helpful Reminder: These bags act as weekly reminders of the lessons learned in each session, sparking conversations and enabling the girls to share their insights and progress.

  • Our beautifully handcrafted Goody Bags are perfect for ending each session with joy. Filled with special items, these bags boost participants' self-esteem and support their personal self esteem journey.

Each bag is thoughtfully curated to feel special and inviting. The contents of each bag follows a different theme each week depending on what the girls have been learning - from pamper packs to growing their own plants, the Goody Bags are always the cherry on top of the course.

  • For the incredible price of just £200, all 8 participants will receive a Goody Bag on all 8 weeks of the course!

We are able to prepare and send these bags to your doorstep to be gifted to the participants on your Know Your Worth Course.

To order your bags and for more information, email our creative lead Ruth Gass at ruth@know-your-worth.org.uk

 FAQs

  • According to Dove, 61% struggle with low self-esteem - fuelled by social media that encourages comparison, and accelerated by a pandemic that has dented social confidence. By the time they reach 18, girls are twice as likely to experience mental health conditions than boys, which inevitably has strong links with conditions such as anxiety, eating disorders, self-harming and low mood. At Know Your Worth, we want to help. Our course is doing exactly that.

  • We've asked the girls what they are experiencing. They have spoken. Our content themes have come from the girls themselves and further research. See our course overview here.

  • We charge for our course bookings which are run by our experienced staff.

Contact us to find out more on pricing and have a first conversation to see whether this is something we could deliver for you. We'd love that!

  • We like staying up to date with National research and development and we always have an eye on what is happening across the board. We know it's helpful for schools too, to see clearly how we meet the PSHE objectives and to have something that can be easily downloaded, saved and added to school folders for your records.

Check out how we meet PHSE objectives for Key Stages 3-5 below:

  • Training takes place throughout the year. It's normally a full, one day event on a Saturday with lunch provided. It's a warm environment to learn as part of a group and become part of Know Your Worth's story.

When you sign up, our team will reach out to find out more, to discuss eligibility, send out a training information pack and let you know all about upcoming training dates and locations.

Once you've attended the training day, you receive a licence to run our course as many times as you like for the rest of the year for a total cost of £400. All we ask is that you register all courses, don't charge for the courses you run and honour our copyright.

  • Head over to our contact us page to ask your questions or organise a time for us to call and chat some more!

“The course has been good for me because it's helped with self-esteem that I didn't have before. I'm more confident in myself and I now put more effort into drama at school because I've got more confidence.”
